X38 Work & Crew Cat

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The 11.4 metre, X38 is a revolutionary stepped-hull high speed catamaran design which can be configured for sheer pleasure, commercial, patrol or military use. It offers superior sea-keeping, efficiency, speed and safety in all operating conditions and is well suited for offshore excursions, fishing, diving and open water crossings, with speeds of 40 knots (light-load) with twin 300 hp outboards. This cutting-edge Swedish design is the result of many years of ongoing research and has a radical longitudinal single step that reduces hull resistance when planning. This results in a boat that has a stable, level ride, and increased efficiency over a conventional hull form, be it catamaran or mono-hull.

The boat is currently available as a Work Boat Model, with commercial looking styling. Future planning for 2009 will include a Hardtop Cabin model, featuring "Stealth Styling" and an open-plan style layout. There will also be an Open Sports Model, aimed at the day charter and fishing market. All models feature full walk-around and a large rear cockpit deck especially suited to fishing, diving and water-sports, which can also be equipped with cool-boxes and a cabinet with integrated sink.. The spacious main cabin has a comfortable double helm seat and a sofa seating relaxation area. The X38 has very good all-round visibility, and ample room for the installation of radar, electronics and communications equipment. All models can have 2 private double cabins forward and a large sun bathing area on the deck above. Or a sunken forward deck for relaxing in the sun.

The shallow draft enables it to operate in, and access areas normally out of reach of conventional vessels. Beaching will be simple and safe, and beach access can be enhanced with the use of a forward ladder.

CONSTRUCTION

Composite GRP, with cored sandwich panels. The hull is made of multi-directional fibre glass layers, with additional carbon stringer strengthening. The balsa and closed-cell high density foam cores increase panel stiffness and reduce the weight usually associated with solid GRP boats. This offers great strength and robustness and maximises hull integrity in the event of a collision.

ENGINES AND PROPULSION

For simplicity of maintenance and operation the boat is powered by outboard motors, with counter-rotating propellers.
